It is already 4th day of my stay in Bellevue WA, and today was the only day it hasn’t rained since I landed in Washington State. I woke up early today, because a couple of folks from Chicago called me in the morning. Given 2 hour time difference, it wasn’t early for Chicagoans.
I took care of a few Edula business, and drove to McDonald for breakfast. I called John and Brian to arrange a 4th of July weekend plan, and deligate the task to Brian. I was opted for Wisconsin Dells, but Brian insisted on camping and fishing. Knowing John, it’s going to make the matter a little more complicated. Too many sea captains, and the ship will climb up a mountain!
After breakfast, I drove to Best Buy and bought a pack of AA Batteries for Nikon camera, and a 12-in-1 memory card reader that will transport the photos stored in Nikon Compact Flash I card to my thinkpad. It was a little more than I wanted to pay ($40, could have gotten online for $15), but my circumstance dictates that I pay extra dollars for convenience. I took the photos of my room, and emailed them to Cindy and Karen. Cindy was very curious about the place where she will be staying when she makes trip out to WA between June 8th and 13th. The room may be a bit crowded for a family of 5, but hey we don’t live in a perfect world.
I came back to the Hotel lobby and grabbed a few travel guides. After brief perusal, I decided to go to Pikes Place Market — a place inside the Farmer’s Market in Seattle. My Garmin 2720 GPS Navigator was very useful in guiding me to the place. I’ve parked the car in the Public Parking area, and walked to the Market. It was 3:45pm, and there were a lot of people there. I saw a dog parade, dogs with dresses on them. I stopped at the Lowells Restaurant located inside the Farmers Market, and ordered a seafood combo. I wanted the raw fish, but the place only offered cooked fish. I asked a bus boy to take a picture of me (below), but came out blurry.
On my way out, I saw a market with fresh fruits. I bought some cherries and brought them to hotel for night refreshment. Coming to the State with no acquantances, and staying alone makes me think how valuable my family and friends are. It’s going to be a month long stay, and I may be able to make a few friends here π
Seattle WA was our entry port into the United States in August 1981, and my second business trip besides the initial entry. It’s a beautiful state with a lot of rain!
